In 2013, after a creative career spanning more than 20 years, including more than 2,000 works exhibited in 9 different countries, Canadian artist, Dominic Besner, retired as an active exhibitor, in order to enter into a period of research and reflection.

Besner spent the last two years studying new techniques in engraving and aqua fortis, both to improve his line sketching and to develop a new approach to subject composition. In his studio, he began to create new art work with no specific objective or intention in terms of eventual dissemination. His only motive was to paint and to sketch as freely and as simply as possible.
